The Underbelly Project
The Underbelly Project started when a artist found an abandoned subway station that had never been finished. He decided to turn it into a secret art gallery. That was a year ago, and now, this abandoned station has become a major inspiration for street artists everywhere. I found out about it scanning the New York Times website. The article said that the artists didn't want anyone really to know about it. It was only open for one night, and during the time hardly anyone came. It was secret, as I said, and the artists could have gotten in serious trouble for it. Luckily, they can hide pretty well. It wasn't easy to get into the station. First, the artists had to wait in a working station until it was empty. Then they had to cross the track to the other platform, which was the way into the gallery. Many street artists participated in this, risking their future career if they were caught. These artists did it not for the publicity, but for themselves.
